Congratulations on your engagement! Let the planning begin for one of your most important days of your life. Every bride thinks to order the cake, schedule the photographer and book the hall. But a visit to the dentist? Yes, visiting your dentist needs to be added to your “to–do-list,” and sooner than later. Dr. Hahn and Dr. Driscoll in Olathe can help you and your wedding party have the most beautiful smiles on your special day.
When should I schedule my Wedding Smile Makeover? We recommend that you schedule your appointment right after your engagement. The more time your dentist has for your treatment, the more treatment options you will have to choose from. Even if time is running out, there are some treatment options for making dramatic changes to your smile.

What treatment falls under a Wedding Smile Makeover? Whitening is not your only option for improving your wedding smile. It is a great choice and is recommended for almost anyone and everyone. Cosmetic Restorative Dentistry such as crowns, implants, tooth-colored fillings, Lumineers, and Snap-On Smiles are common choices for Wedding Smile Makeovers. Orthodontics is another excellent way to straighten teeth, fix bad bites, and improve facial esthetics. Getting a routine preventative check-up and cleaning is highly recommended. A surprise toothache can really ruin a honeymoon!
Cosmetic Dentistry:
Lumineers – Thin porcelain shells that are bonded to your teeth with minimal to no drilling. The majority of cases require no shots, no temporaries, no down time and last a long term with no discoloration. You will get instant whitening, instant gap-filling, an instant change in tooth shape, and instant straightening that lasts. You will need to reserve two appointments on average for this treatment.
Snap-On Smile – Thin, strong, natural looking Snap-On smile. They are available for upper and/or lower teeth. NO pain, no shots, no temporaries, no down time and are removable. Great for instant fix on gaps, crooked, stained or missing teeth. You remove them for eating and brushing. You will need to reserve two appointments for this treatment.
Veneers – Porcelain shell that is like a Lumineer, but for more severe situations. They are strong , long-lasting and natural looking. They don’t stain easily, less tooth enamel needs to be removed than with a crown or cap. You will need to reserve two appointments for this treatment.
Crowns – A cover or “cap” you put on a tooth. It restores the tooth to its normal shape, size and function. Improves a tooth appearance and makes the tooth stronger. They are natural looking to match your other teeth. They can cover a discolored or badly shaped tooth. They will fix cracked and worn down teeth.
Dental Implants – They are like synthetic roots that are placed in the upper or lower jaw, where they function as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth. They are a popular and effective way to replace missing teeth. Implants are one of the biggest advances in dentistry in the past 40 years. They are great if you are missing a tooth, several teeth, or if you have loose dentures that need to stay in as you are making that wedding toast. Implants are made of titanium and are very strong. You will need to reserve at least 4 appointments. Implants take about 4-6 months from beginning to end.
Composite Fillings – Made of ceramic compounds and are natural tooth-colored. Great for chipped teeth, cavities and for replacing silver fillings.
Orthodontics: Can be done with tooth-colored brackets and wires. Moving teeth into the ideal position is the best, most stable, longest-lasting, and often one of the most economical ways to achieve that perfect smile.
Invisalign – Clear aligners worn to straighten teeth. They are virtually invisible, clear and removable. They gradually move your teeth to get straight. Comfort and fewer in office dental visits make these a very popular choice for ortho. You will be so busy planning your wedding that you will really appreciate the fewer, shorter visits needed to achieve straight teeth. Treatment can be short term or up to a year. We have many brides who chose this option to straighten teeth for their big day. A bit advantage is that they may be removed for your wedding, and then treatment can be finished after your big day.
Six Month Smiles – This is a short term orthodontic treatment using clear brackets and tooth colored wires. Gradually straightens teeth and treatment time is about 6-9 months. You cannot remove these like Invisalign, so they are a great option for brides who think they may be too busy to keep track of aligners.
Preventative Care: A routine check-up and cleaning are very important even for brides who do not want to change a thing prior to the big day. The last thing you need is a toothache or swollen face on your big day. And no one wants to deal with a suprise dental issue on their honeymoon. The Caribbean is known for its beautiful beaches, not its comfortable root canal treatments.
Prophylaxis (Cleaning) – Wonderful procedure to keep the mouth in good health and halt the progression of gum disease. This treatment will remove any tartar and plaque buildup above and below the gum line. Beside all the health benefits you reap from your dental cleaning, fresh breath for the big day will be a huge benefit. Your hygienist will remove any surface stains that are on the teeth. This will brighten up your smile. This treatment is recommended the week before your big day.
